I’m on a mission from god…

That is, MY god told me to do this…

Facebook is both cool and annoying. Both productive and a time waster. But on the whole, I couldn’t do without it. Here’s why.

Now comes the mission part. I want you, if you’re reading this, … yes, you! … to think about how you use FB. Or things like it. …the Internet in general. Is it more time waster than productivity tool? Does it sap your life more than it enriches it? Or does the reason you keep coming back, the reason you’re here now, have something to do with its overall net benefit to your life?

If it’s actually a positive thing, and I’m going to assume it is if you’re still reading, then it warrants considering how to maximize that positiveness, no? One way is to cut down the amount of mindless time wasting things you do, and try out some more net-benefit-producing stuff. For example, if you’re reading something (say, this post, or some other article), post it to your profile!! It’s a very simple thing to do. If you don’t know how, ask!!! People will read or watch it, and hopefully say something.

Or, if you’re reading or watching something someone posted (say, this post!), and a thought about it’s content passes through your brain as you’re doing so, comment on it!! FB provides both these tools (posting and commenting). That’s ACTUALLY the point!

So, my mission is to raise awareness. Online communities have so much potential for great water cooler style discussions.

And here’s the kicker: you don’t actually need sixteen freakin’ walls to accomplish this! So, get rid of your SuperFunExtendedBestFriendsForeverWall once and for all, and start posting links. It’s all a link, cuz it’s ALL on the Internet. We need FEWER walls people!
